Homemade Florida Cranberry Relish
Since I get asked regularly “How do you EAT this weird crop,” I’ve decided to start posting more recipes.
I’m not a recipe-oriented cook so this collection has had significant input from Mrs. Survival Gardener. That means these are all delicious. She’s working on a cookbook, too, so stay tuned for that!
Here’s the entire recipe collection thus far:

Please……what is your recipe for Hard Pear Jalapeno Salsa
I’ve been looking for it – no luck yet. I have the basic idea in my head but I know there’s a recipe around here somewhere.
I would love to see that salsa recipe as well. It’s been 4 years. I’d hope to see it in 4 years personally.
I lost it.
Where’s the pulled pork jackfruit recipe?!
Ha!
Yes, please post the recipe for the salsa. It sounds wonderful.
We have three trees and need some new recipes.
I have a good one for pear relish if you would like it, a very mustardy, savory relish.
I also would like the recipe for the pear salsa PLEASE. I have 1 tree that is loaded.
Need to find something to do with them.
I cannot for the life of me figure it out again – I know generally how we made it, but the recipe seems to have gotten lost in our move. I apologize for missing your comment until now!
Do you have one for Chayote?
No, haven’t made much with it yet. Still trying to find a way the children actually like it. About to plant some more soon, though.
Chayote takes on the flavor or the seasonings use to cook or the item it is cooked with ie carrots.
My wife uses chayote in a chicken soup. Check Filipino, Thai, and other southeast asian dishes.
The chayote is a different kind of squash, it’s green and looks like a big pear. We use it a lot in soups in Mexico
Can you cook and eat the smilex tubers. I have an area full of them.
Yes, but they have a lot of fibers in them.
please email …how to make fermented pickles
I had one of your books and remember seeing a recipe for sauerkraut. I wanted to copy it because every time I try to make it mine gets moldy. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I wanted to try your method. Could you please send it to me or put it on your web page. Thank you
Love the videos and seeing the family. You have taught us so much and we are so excited to get planting in a couple of months. We are doing David the Good marathons!! Thank you and Rachel for what you do..you are making a difference in this world. God bless
Thank you all – happy new year!
